I have wanted to do a real autumnal garland this year, I couldn't really find any inspo online so just went with it. I'm in no way a florist just had a go and I was actually surprised at how it turned out.
I have created a little time lapse to show you how I did it but also have also added some tips below too.
What you need:
Oasis - I bought 2 x 48cm to fit my fireplace
Pine cones
Acorns
Twigs and branches (I just foraged in the local woods and the garden)
Sunflowers (optional)
Glue gun
Secateurs
Spray bottle
Top tips for making a real garland:
When foraging try and get an even number of everything. It’s not essential but sometimes I try to do the same on both sides. Symmetry looks good with garlands I think.
Have patience – garlands take a bit of time to look good. Just go with it and trust the creative in you.
Have a colour scheme in mind. I picked some red berries from the garden but didn’t end up using them because they didn’t fit the theme. Pick a few colours and stick to them.
I start with the greenery and the first thing I do is the ends.
When you cut branches, cut above a leaf. That way you can use the bottom of the branch too.
Spray your garland every few days with water to keep it fresh. Replace the flowers if need be.
Hope you find these tips useful, thanks for reading and watching :).
